Nigel Moores was born in Manchester and later studied at London University.

'I have always been interested in colour and it's link to emotions. Our response to colour is individual and not always fully understood, but can nonetheless change our mood. Colour theories (cultural) are not enough, one must also follow intuition. The landscape is also universal and yet specific to a group of people. It too can remind us of ideas, memories and thoughts.

Paintings may have layers like the landscape, fragments revealing the past; lines, real or imagined, that measure or record movement; and colour that expresses internal or external perceptions.

I paint to discover, reveal and explore trusting the observer may do the same.'
