Ele Pack

Ele Pack was born in 1969, she lives in Brighton on the South Coast. Ele attended Loughborough College of Art and Design were she gained a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art and has exhibited in many group and solo shows in London, Germany, Sweden and the USA.

It is my long held love of colour, and desire to create beautiful images that motivates me to paint. I am fascinated by the challenge of making marks that represent the figurative world, as well as being beautiful statements in themselves. In the creation of a personal visual language I hope to portray my sensibility and personality.

I am inspired by, amongst others, the work of Giorgio Morandi, Euan Uglow, Ben Nicholson and Sandro Botticelli. These painters are primarily figurative, but also create a harmony of abstract elements. Images are used that represent the real world, but just as important is the balance of colour, tone and composition.

I start each painting using a still life object as inspiration, drawn to it’s humble and familiar, yet intimate qualities. I then build up the bands and slices of colour instinctively, hoping to capture a feeling of space, air and object, combined with the sheer sensory pleasure of colour and paint.

I try to create intimate, luminous, sensual paintings that the viewer can respond to on an emotional, as well as, visual level.
