Brenda King
Brenda King was born in Cumbria in 1934. She studied at the Lancaster College of Art and the Royal College of Art, London. Before devoting herself full-time to painting Brenda King worked as a textile designer at Liberty’s in London. Whilst living in the Thames valley, Brenda King showed regularly at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. During the 60s and 70s Brenda King held solo shows annually at the Mansard Gallery at Heal’s in London.
In 1976 Brenda King moved to Port Isaac in Cornwall, then in 1985 to St Ives, she now lives in Penzance. Since living in Cornwall she has exhibited widely. Her work has been seen in exhibitions from Paris to Tokyo via the USA, as well as in this country.
Brenda King works predominantly in oils and her paintings show a great vibrancy of colour and an inventive use of space and form.
